Aces in Their Places – Staffing for Client Success
Aces in their places?
I feel strongly that happiness should be a guiding principal in the work we humans do. Whether it be our personal or professional lives, we should all strive to do what we love each day. I am committed to finding capable and passionate talent that will love what they are doing for our clients. I call the process “Aces in their places,” it’s my guiding principal in staffing for client success.
Skill is not as important as the joy of doing
Ok, so don’t take that literally. I start the process with a checklist of skills, check portfolios and whatnot, the usual process. But in this professional vertical we’re all renaissance creators so my focus then is finding out what that individual loves to do.
If someone can do 10 things adequately but two of those things bring them immense joy, I am going to focus on placing them on projects where they are doing those two things, check those two things off the list of skills needed for a client or project and continue building the rest of the team.
We are all an ace in something, but are we in the right place?
It’s all a bit abstract and you cannot read my mind (you’re glad I assure you) so let me tell you what this means to me, I will use myself as an example.
Just because I can do something doesn’t mean I am the right one for the job. I can operate a social account, but you’d make a huge mistake assigning me a role related to social media. There are a number of reasons why, but the most important reason being that there is someone else better suited to the responsibility. So rather than fill a role with a warm body that can “do” the job, I want someone that will excel past just doing it and dare I say, truly love doing it.
I’ve been in the work force for longer than I care to admit and I’ve seen the untapped strengths in the people around me. I’ve thought, “this person is amazing at XYZ but they’re spending their time doing ABC.” Then at some point I tell them how amazing they are at ABC and watch them light up, only to have to go back to doing XYZ and it has bothered me. There is someone amazing at every role so I am on a mission to staff accordingly by putting Aces in Their Places to passionately do what our clients need and live a happier life as a result.
Improving the world one life at a time.
I want Radcrafters to improve the quality of peoples lives, from the inside out. From our aces inside the agency with an opportunity to make a living doing what they love, to the ease we bring our client in the tailored services we provide to their business. All the clichés… literally all of them… “do more good than harm,” and “leave the world better than how I found it.” It is ridiculous maybe but it’s important to me that this is said out loud and you understand this is part of the foundation of this agency.
To our prospective aces and clients

Final thoughts
I am a work in progress, and we are a young agency so chances are you’ll see updates and revisions to this process along the way but I can promise you with certainty that while the process may change, the principal of making a difference and improving lives will always be our anchor.
